Auf einem Grundstück am Sinsheimer Friedhof entsteht derzeit auf Initiative der Stadtverwaltung Sinsheim ein Schaubiotop in unmittelbarer Nähe zu den Schulen der Kernstadt. Anhand eines Sinnespfads sollen hier naturschutzfachliche Themen für die Umweltbildung erlebbar gemacht werden. Auf etwa 1.200 Quadratmetern entstehen unter anderem eine kleine Streuobstwiese, ein Bereich mit Nisthilfen, eine Lössböschung sowie eine Trockenmauer.
An der südlichen Grenze zum Friedhof ist die Pflanzung einer Hecke aus heimischen Straucharten als Vogelhecke geplant.
Ein Feuchtbiotop, das mit Niederschlagswasser versorgt wird, rundet das Gesamtbiotop ab. Die Ideenskizze für das Modellprojekt stammt aus dem städtischen Amt für Stadt- und Flächenentwicklung. »Es ist uns ein großes Anliegen, die Themen Nachhaltigkeit, Umwelt- und Naturschutz in die Schulen zu tragen«, erläutert Oberbürgermeister Jörg Albrecht.
»Mit dem Biotop, das hier entsteht, lässt sich Sensibilisierung für die Thematik optimal mit Bewegungsförderung verbinden. Was hier entsteht, ist ein Modellprojekt mit Vorbildcharakter.«
