MTV Allianz Stuttgart
Um seinen Spitzenplatz im deutschen Volleyball zu festigen und weitere Titel zu holen, hat sich der Vizemeister und Pokalfinalist der vergangenen Saison punktuell und namhaft verstärkt. Die Zeichen bei Allianz MTV Stuttgart stehen auf Angriff.
In den vergangenen zwei Jahren standen die erstklassigen Volleyball-Damen des Allianz MTV Stuttgart in vier Finalspielen. 2015 holten sie gegen Bundesliga-Konkurrent Ladies in Black Aachen zum zweiten Mal in der Vereinsgeschichte nach 2011 den DVV-Pokal. 2016 unterlagen sie im Pokal-Endspiel in Mannheim ihrem Dauerrivalen Dresdner SC knapp mit 2:3 Sätzen. 2015 erreichte Allianz MTV Stuttgart das Finale um die Deutsche Meisterschaft, verlor dieses aber deutlich mit 0:3 Spielen gegen den Dresdner SC. Aber der Kampf um die Meisterschaft in der Deutschen Volleyball-Bundesliga 2016 geriet in der Best-of-five-Finalserie gegen den Dresdner SC zu einem waschechten Sport-Krimi. Highlight dieses Schlagabtausches auf Augenhöhe war das vierte Final-Spiel am 30. April in der Porsche-Arena vor 5.392 Zuschauern. Nie zuvor hatten mehr Zuschauer ein Volleyball-Bundesligaspiel der Damen gesehen, bis heute Rekord. Obwohl auch diese Finalserie knapp mit 2:3 Spielen verloren ging, so ist die Lücke zum Spitzenreiter aus der Elb-Metropole deutlich kleiner geworden.
Jugendliche frische, gereifte Erfahrung
Jelena Wlk, Caroline Jarmoc, Femke Stoltenborg, Nichole Lindow, Kaja Grobelna, Mari Aase Hole und Lisa Thomsen haben den Verein verlassen. Bei den Neuzugängen wurde auf Körpergröße, Erfahrung sowie Offensiv- und Blockqualitäten Wert gelegt. Aus dem Team der Penn State University kommen Diagonal-Spielerin Aiyana Whitney und Mittelblockerin Nia Grant. Beide US-Amerikanerinnen sind 23 Jahre jung und mit 1,96 und 1,88 Meter hoch aufgeschossen. Die mehrfache slowenische Meisterin, Zuspielerin Karmen Kocar, kennt sich im europäischen Volleyball bestens aus, Mittelblock-Nationalspielerin Jennifer Pettke soll für noch mehr Stabilität oberhalb der Netzkante sorgen. Pettkes Nationalmannschaftskollegin, Außenangreiferin Julia Schäfer, war 2015 Volleyball-Aufsteigerin des Jahres und mit der thailändischen Libera Wanna Buakaew wurde eine Seriensiegerin des asiatischen Volleyballs verpflichtet.
CEV-Pokal statt Champions League
Sportdirektor Bernhard Lobmüller erläutert die Strategie für die nächste Saison: »Wichtig ist, dass die Spielerinnen mit Freude zu einem geschlossenen Team zusammenfinden. Wir haben uns gut verstärkt, gerade im Bereich des Blocks und des Angriffs. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren waren wir aufgrund fehlender Größe der Spielerinnen taktisch limitierter, das haben wir geändert. Auch durch Athletik-Trainer Martin Brenner, der sich um das Team kümmern wird, sind wir noch besser aufgestellt. Die Kosten für eine CL-Teilnahme lägen bei 120.000 Euro, deswegen spielen wir nächste Saison im CEV-Pokal«. Der MTV Allianz Stuttgart hat am 8. August Trainingsauftakt, danach folgt ein Trainingslager bei Bozen. »Am 16. Oktober gibt es für uns nur ein Ziel, denn es geht beim Super-Cup in Berlin gegen Dresden um die erste Trophäe der Saison«.
