Bunt, laut und lecker soll es in Heilbronn im Juli wieder werden: Vom 5. bis 14 Juli findet auf der Theresienwiese wieder das Heilbronner Volksfest statt – mit einer entscheidenden Änderung. Erstmals wird es kein Göckelesmaier-Festzelt auf dem Platz geben. Stattdessen setzen die Veranstalter auf einen großen Open-Air-Biergarten für die Besucher.
Trotzdem, so betont Veranstalter Karl Maier, wird "alles da sein, was ein Volksfest auszeichnet." Als Grund für die Änderung sei die Beobachtung in den letzten Jahren gewesen, dass gerade bei hohen Temperaturen das Festzelt leer blieb und die Besucher lieber im Außenbereich gesessen hätten. "Da muss man als Volksfest einfach mit der Zeit gehen", so Maier. "Im Juli tut man sich mit dem klassischen Bierzeltangebot schwerer als im Oktober." Infolgedessen wird die Gastro nach draußen verlegt, sodass niemand auf seine Göckele oder seine Maß verzichten muss. Zudem werde es auch überdachte Bereiche geben, damit man im Falle von schlechtem Wetter Ausweichmöglichkeiten habe. Ein weiterer Grund für den diesjährigen Fokus auf das Open-Air-Konzept ist die Übertragung der Fußball-Europameisterschaft. Auf einer 5x3 Meter großen LED-Leinwand können Besucher die Spiele der EM live mitverfolgen. Das hat auch Auswirkungen auf den Rest des Programms: So findet der traditionelle Fassanstich zur Eröffnung des Volksfestes durch Oberbürgermeister Harry Mergel am 5. Juli bereits um 17 Uhr statt, da das 1. Viertelfinale um 18 Uhr übertragen wird. Auch das Feuerwerk, das sonst immer am letzten Sonntag des Volksfestes abgefeuert wird, wurde in diesem Jahr auf den ersten Sonntag, 7. Juli, um 22:30 Uhr vorverlegt.
Das Festbier wird erneut von der regionalen Löwenbrauerei Hall kommen. "Aktuell reift es noch in unseren Fässern, damit es pünktlich zum Start des Volksfestes seinen klassisch vollmundigen Geschmack hat", verspricht Peter Theilacker, Geschäftsführer der Löwenbrauerei. Zusätzlich zu der klassischen Maß gibt es das Bier in diesem Jahr auch in Halbliterkrügen. Theilacker bezeichnet das Volksfestbier als "idealen EM-Begleiter". Die Maß kostet dieses Jahr 10,70 Euro, den 0,5l-Krug gibt es für 5,80 Euro. Der Preis für 1/2 Göckele liegt 2024 bei 12,20 Euro. Täglich (außer Sonntags) zwischen 12 und 14 Uhr gibt es ein besonderes Mittagsangebot.
Ein Festzelt wird es zwar nicht geben, dafür können sich Besucher auf der Theresienwiese auch 2024 wieder auf zahlreiche Fahrgeschäfte und Gastro-Angebote freuen. Erneut dabei sind Klassiker, wie Autoscooter, Breakdance und Geisterbahn sowie das Riesenrad JUWEL und der Kettenflieger Jules Verne. Aber auch neue Highlights und Fahrgeschäfte sind dabei. Ergänzt wird das Angebot erneut durch das Klima-Wäldchen sowie weitere Sitzgelegenheiten um den Theresienturm. An den beiden Sonntagen wird zum Frühschoppen geladen, untermalt von den Musikvereinen Grombach und Kirchhausen. Der 10. Juli ist ein Spartag mit ermäßigten Preisen auf dem gesamten Festplatz sowie einem Kinderprogramm von 16 bis 17 Uhr. Für die EM-Spiele können Tische inklusive EM-Paketen gebucht werden; dies ist ab sofort unter EM2024@goeckelesmaier.de möglich.
„Seit nunmehr 70 Jahren bringt die Familie Maier das Volksfest in unsere Stadt und hat ihren hohen Standard immer gehalten“, freut sich Steffen Schoch, Geschäftsführer der Heilbronn Marketing GmbH. Die neue Ausrichtung mit Open-Air-Biergarten statt Festzelt zeige, dass man sich nicht sklavisch an Traditionen halten muss, sondern immer auch mit der Zeit gehe und sich so zukunftsfähig aufstellen könne. Karl Maier ergänzt: "Niemand muss auf etwas verzichten. Ich freue mich auf das Heilbronner Volksfest und bin mir sicher, dass wir den Besuchern tolle zehn Festtage bieten werden."
