Ab sofort ist das WiFi-Netz auf vier Plätzen in der Stuttgarter Innenstadt verfügbar. Der besondere Zusatzservice: Bewohner der Stadt sowie Touristen aus dem In- und Ausland gewinnen über ein spezielles mobiles Portal maßgeschneiderte Informationen rund um Stuttgart.
Kabelnetzbetreiber Unitymedia, Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH und der Kooperationspartner BW-Bank versorgen Stuttgart-Besucher ab sofort an vier Plätzen in der Stuttgarter Innenstadt mit freiem WLAN. Auf dem Schlossplatz, dem Schillerplatz, auf dem Marktplatz und an der Tourist Information i-Punkt ist das kostenlose WiFi-Netz mit dem Namen „Unitymedia Wifi“ ab sofort verfügbar. „Wir sind froh, an vier frequentierten Bereichen der Innenstadt diesen zeitgemäßen Service anbieten zu können. Damit schaffen wir noch mehr Qualität für einen Aufenthalt im innerstädtischen Raum“, sagt Michael Föll, Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH und Erster Bürgermeister der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart. Neben einer verbesserten Infrastruktur bringt die neue Dienstleistung für die Bewohner der Stadt und insbesondere ausländischen Stuttgart-Gäste auch einen touristischen Zusatzservice. Die richtige Information, zur richtigen Zeit und am richtigen Ort: Eine Besonderheit des Stuttgarter WLAN-Konzepts ist der sogenannte „Walled Garden“, ein Informationsportal, das die Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH Nutzern auf der WLAN-Anmeldeseite bereitstellt. Darauf finden sich Tipps und Informationen zu touristischen Highlights, Veranstaltungen, Gastronomie, Öffnungszeiten, eine Fahrplanauskunft und vieles mehr. Um die Informationen im „Walled Garden“ abzurufen, ist keine WLAN-Registrierung erforderlich.
