20. Indisches Filmfestival in Stuttgart
Fünf Festtage für Fans indischer Filme. Das Indische Filmfestival Stuttgart feiert seinen 20. Geburtstag und das sind einige Programm-Highlights: Die Premiere der heiß ersehnten deutschen Fassung von Shah Rukh Khans spektakulärem Spionage-Action-Thrillers ‚Pathaan‘; zum Opening die bittersüße und tiefgründige Komödie ‚Gulmohar‘ von German Star of India- Gewinner Rahul V. Chittella (2017, ‚Azaad‘); die mit Preisen (Sundance, Cannes, Oscar- Nominierung) überschüttete Dokumentation ‚All that Breathes‘ über bedrohte Milane in der vergifteten Luft in Neu-Delhi; eine Miezekatze, die Amor spielt (‚Max, Min and Meowzaki‘) und für Serienjunkies ‚Modern Love Mumbai‘. Das Jubiläumsprogramm mit etwa 60 aktuellen Filmen aus ganz Indien ist bunt und bombastisch, aber auch auf der Höhe der gesellschaftlichen Debatten. Vom 19. bis 23. Juli zeigt Europas größtes indisches Filmfestival alles, was die Menschen im bevölkerungsreichsten Land der Welt momentan bewegt. Zum Abschluss werden die begehrten Filmpreise German Star of India verliehen.
»Auf die Mischung kommt es an«, sagten sich Programm- und Festivalleiter Oliver Mahn und die beiden Kuratorinnen Uma da Cunha (Mumbai, Indien) und Therese Hayes (Palm Springs, USA) und mixten die besten Spiel-, Kurz- und Dokumentarfilme eines starken Film-Jahrgangs zu einem hochkarätigen Geburtstagsprogramm mit Welt-, Europa und Deutschlandpremieren. Es darf gelacht, geweint und um die Protagonisten gezittert werden – wie es im echten indischen Kino so üblich ist.
In die Schar der Gratulanten reihen sich zahlreiche Filmgäste aus Indien ein, darunter Newcomer, Hoffnungsträger und Meister der filmischen Erzählkunst, wie die indischee Regisseurin Payal Sethi, und Andreas Lapp, Honorarkosul der Republik Indien fur Baden-Wurttemberg und Rheinland-Pfalz.
Anlässlich des 20. Jubiläums ist das Indische Filmfestival Stuttgart am Samstag, 22. Juli, einmalig zu Gast im Park der Villa Reitzenstein, dem Amtssitz des baden-württembergischen Ministerpräsidenten Winfried Kretschmann. Ab 13 Uhr präsentiert das Indische Filmfestival Stuttgart dort auf einer LED-Leinwand Einblicke in das spannende Kurzfilm-Programm des diesjährigen Festivals. Ab 16 Uhr gibt es im Open-Air-Kino im Park einen aktuellen indischen Spielfilm zu sehen.
