Ein neuer »King’s Man«-Film ist am Start, ein jugendlich frech wirbelnder Taron Egerton als Agent Eggsy jedoch weit und breit nicht in Sicht. Warum, wird schnell klar: Regisseur Matthew Vaughn, der schon für die ersten beiden Verfilmungen über besondere Aufträge des Londoner Geheimdienstbundes verantwortlich zeichnete, erzählt die Geschichte vom Ursprung der Organisation. Entsprechend sucht man das bekannte Personal »aus der Zukunft« also vergeblich. Trotzdem wurden auch für die zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts spielende Handlung prominente Namen vor die Kamera geholt, etwa Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Matthew Goode, Rhys Ifans und Tom Hollander, zudem die deutschen Darsteller Daniel Brühl, Alexandra Maria Lara und der Schweizer Joel Basman.
